Social retard
He gets up late, sleeps late. He spends most of his time in-front of his computer. When I mean “most”, it actually means all the time he can get in a day_night. Bath, Breakfast, etc are unnecessary interruptions in the flow of a great daily habit of geekiness.
He gazes pointlessly at the computer screen. He reads digg, slashdot articles to spend his time. Thinks about them seriously and updates his comments/ blog. He likes configuring crazy window managers in his archlinux setup which are more productive than the native, popular “bloat” window managers. There is always something to do with a machine.
His nature is to remain silent most of the time unless provocated on the matters which he cares the most – linux, hardware, philosophy, metaphysics, reality. You normally hear nothing from him.
Progressive and psychedelic rock music is a must, and balances his lifestyle when he stares and his mind thinks heavily infront of the machine.
Welcome to the life a boring social retard. This can be the most pessimistic introduction one can ever make. But that is how it seems , and that is the feedback I have got.
Not that I am particularly happy about it, but this is the projection of the lifestyle to home from 4 years in the great NITK hostels. The transition has been smooth indeed because I dont seem to care. That is how it always works. Dont care.
The himalayas helped in breaking my habit, but it doesnt seem to be working long enough. The first day, and two posts already, moved to wordpress, …
I asked srikanth pv ( my beloved room mate in NITK who is very unlike me):
evilsense: tell me what you have been doing lately.
pv: i have had dates with 4 girls in the past 3 weeks.
Leave the social retard with a girl and the max he can do is strike a nice intellectual discussion with her. Well, he can mess up things easily too.
Scene: Last camp fire of SP_06 in the base camp, Kasol. Few of the girls (Tanvi and anushree) have planned a surprise chocolate cake for the birthday girl Greetika. Only few are aware of it. I assume (assumptions, ho!) that the cake has already been cut in the tent and the party is all over.
Sometime, inbetween the camp fire, Tanvi and Greetika pass behind us.
evilsense: Is there any chocolate cake left ??
Greetika: ??? (confused)
Tanvi: WHAT THE HELL??
evilsense ( takes some time to realise, and then to himself): Oh sh*t.
The uncomfortable feeling is termed “shekhe”. Indeed, very much.
Anyway, the story continues. He still continues to do random and pointless things. Randomness, as the quantum physicists say, is embedded into the nature. Very good.
I do a pacman -Su and notice that the rsync mirror has not happened for approx a month. Damn. No one to blame, the cron job is supposed to run at 3.00 AM, and without me, the box is never up so late. So, I change the primary mirror to a online repository and do a pacman -Syu. I notice that awesome gets upgraded to 2.3.
As expected, with every upgrade awesome is supposed to break. Damn. I make a mental note to try wmii, and switch back to evilwm – my wm for life, no upgrade, rock solid.
“Stranger by the minute” by Porcupine Tree continues to play in the background…
Strange as I seem
I’m getting stranger by the minute
Look in my dreams
They’re getting stranger by the minute

awesome *sheke* moment
ROTF!!!

it’d have been awesome, if you’d asked ” Hey, Greetika, is your surprise b’day party over. Is there any cake left?”…
Agree on every word of it.. but changing. nah.. this version’s better..

Can i steal the term ’social retard’ for my next post and give you due credit? (I’ll link your post and tell people YOU are the genius!)

Ofcourse you can. Credit wont be necessary. After all, I was called (ashish: dude, you are so socially retarded) by someone else, so it wont make me any genius =p.
